\nArtists & Artforms
\n
\nART:
\n
\n1.) Expressionism- The artist tries to express a certain feeling about something. The art doesnt necessarily always look exactly like the image the artist is trying to capture, but more artistically abstract. Artists in this field include Marc Chagall and Ludwig Kirchner.
\n
\n2.) Pop Art- Short for "Popular Art," this style is inspired by comic strips, cartoons, entertainment, advertising and much more. This style is usually colorful and repetitive. Famous artist in this genre is Andy Warhol. This is one of my favorites.
\n
\n3.) Futurism- It was developed in the first ten years of the 20th century. It focused on the development and speed of creation.
\n
\n4.) Art Deco- A popular international movement in 1925 to 1940's which brought in styles like architecture, visual art and interior design as well as construction.
\n
\n5.) Manuscript- the art of creating fancy manuscript\/writing during the 1300's and moths and butterflies were often seen in great detail in this form.
\n
\n6.) Fashion- Some may not call it an art, everyone looking out for the next big trend. Designers are the masterminds behind this "art style" as well as "fashion experts."
\n
\n7.) Jewelry- people create necklaces, rings, bracelets etc. out of silver, gold, beads, gemstones, etc.
\n
\n8.) DNA Art- you can use your DNA patterns to create abstract, landscape or portraits. This is a real unique type of art.
\n
\n9.) Chinese Papercuts- Originated in China, hence the name "Chinese Papercuts." Originated around the 1st century A.D. These were constructed out of a very thin paper and used to decorate the plants women would wear in their hair.
\n
\n10.) Ancient Egyptian Art- This style is about 5000 years old and includes sculpture ( sphynxes, persain cats etc.), painting (heiroglyphics, pictographs), and architecture (pyramids). This I think is one of the most admirable art forms. Blue, green, yellow and red were all symbolic colors which were often used in Egyptian painting.
\n
\nARTISTS:
\n
\n1.) George Lopez- He is a Mexican-American comedian with his own TV series called "George Lopez." His new show is set to air November 9, 2009. He has made over 200 appearances including hosting the Latin Grammy's twice. He resides in Los Angeles with wife Ann and daughter Mayan.
\n
\n2.) Lil' Wayne- As one of my favorite rappers, Lil Wayne was born Dwayne Michael Carter. He is an award-winning rapper who was brought into this world on September 27, 1982. He has been on the music scene since 1993 when he was a member of a group called the Hot Boys. He is signed with Cash Money, Young Money and Universal record companies. Lil Wayne has released many albums and sold billions of copies of them.
\n
\n3.) Sonia Delaunay- She is a french-Jewish artist who adopted orphanism as her style of choice. That style of art is noted for its geometric designs and colors. She lived from Nov. 14, 1885 to Dec. 5, 1979.
\n
\n4.) Andy Warhol- He was born Andrew Warhola on June 6, 1928 and died on Feburary 22, 1987. He was one of the leading figures of the visual art movement in which they called Pop Art. He was onriginally a commerical illustrator. His style of art always had a lot of bright colors, sometimes repeitition and somewhat of a tessellation effect. I believe this style of art is coming back with todays younger generation.
\n
\n5.) Emeril Lagasse- Celebrity chef who is talented in the work he does. He is an artist of creating delicious food and making it look appealing as well. He has his own cooking show on the Food Network and had made numerous TV appearances and has written many of his own cookbooks.
\n
\n6.) Ani Difranco- She is a singer, guitarist and songwriter, and a powerful one at that. Her lyrics are very powerful and moving as well as much use of profanity. She has released over twenty albums and created her own record company which she calls Righteous Babe Records.
\n

\n
\n9.) Stephen King- I would consider him to be an artist of horror literature. Born September 21, 1947, Stephen King proceeded to sell over 300-350 million copies of his works. His most famous works being those like Carrie, Rose Red, The Shining, The Dark Tower Series, IT, and many, many more. His works have also been adapted into film, TV and other media.
